EASE OF DOING BUSINESS REFORM INTERVENTION: WORLD BANK DOING BUSINESS RANKINGS 2018 - THE ROLE OF PERCHSTONE & GRAEYS

On November 8, 2017, Perchstone & Graeys received appreciation from His Excellency, the Vice President, and the Chair of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, for the technical support provided by the firm in ensuring the gained excellent results in the recently released World Bank rankings. 

By the recent ranking, Nigeria holds the 145th position out of the 190 countries on the global ease of doing business rankings, compared to 169 in the last years report; evidencing an improvement of 24 places against the target of 20 places. Nigeria also features as one of the 10 economies showing the most notable improvement in Doing Business 2018.

The firm was also appreciated for its erudite contributions and reforms to the Getting Credit Indicator which were all accepted by the World Bank and as a result of which, Nigeria is now placed 6th in the world on the Getting Credit indicator. These reforms include the signing into law of the Secured Transactions in Movable Assets Act 2017 and the Credit Reporting Act 2017, as well as the developments in the National Collateral Registry and the Credit Bureaus.

The firm was congratulated on this landmark achievement and thanked by His Excellency for Perchstone & Graeys' continued support in implementing the Council's mandate.
